Devin is Co-founder and owner of Northwest Integrative Healthcare Centre in Terrace, BC. He is a long-term resident of Terrace, was born and raised here in Northern BC, and is of Algonkian/Welsh ancestry, with his heritage roots in the Aboriginal Communities of the Gaspe Peninsula of Quebec and the Southern Coast of Wales. As a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist, Devin provides support to individuals and families (including youth) in a number of areas, including anxiety, depression, addictions, severe and persistent mental illness, trauma, geriatrics, chronic illness (diabetes), family, community violence, staff & organizational team coaching, and psycho-educational workshop design and delivery, with the majority of his time being spent working with and among Aboriginal communities in northern and remote B.C. Additionally, Devin is a PhD student with Memorial University and an international lecturer on the role of workplace cultural dissonance in healthcare worker experiences of compassion satisfaction, burnout and secondary traumatic stress. His Doctoral research at Memorial University continues to explore the impact of workplace value differences on healthcare worker professional quality of life.

Under the supervision of the clinical supervisor, provide the following clinical services:
  • Provide monthly, onsite clinical counselling services to the communities of Iskut, Dease Lake, Telegraph Creek, Lax Kwalaams, Gitlaxt'aamiks, Gitwinksihlkw, Lax̱g̱altsʼap, and Ging̱olx. 
  • Mental Health and Addiction counselling and community-based interventions.

Description of Scope of Work:
  • Provide direct clinical counselling and support services to clinic patients in areas of acute and chronic illness, mental health and addictions, depression, anxiety, suicide, existential crisis, end of life, pre-marital counselling, couples counselling, and psycho-social assessments.
  • Provide clinical mental health assessments using the DSM.
  • Provide contracted mental health services to rural and remote First Nations Communities, including: Kitselas First Nations, Haisla Nation, Iskut Valley Health, Dease Lake and Telegraph Creek, and Lax Kwalaams, as part of clinical scope with First Health Solutions. 
  • Develop, design and deliver psycho-educational workshops in areas of couples/family conflict, self-care, burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma.
  • Provide direct clinical supervision to on-site mental health clinicians, as well as clinicians in remote communities.
  • Improve the operational systems, processes, and policies in support of the clinic’s mission specifically, support better management reporting, information flow and management, business process and organizational planning.
  • Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services (HR, IT and Finance), through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions.
  • Play a significant role in long-term planning, including an initiative geared toward operational excellence.
  • Oversee overall financial management, planning, systems and controls (budgets, in-house statements, and cash flow).
  • Management of agency budget in coordination with the Executive Director.
  • Development of individual program budgets
  • Invoicing to funding sources, including calculation of completed units of service.
